A short animated documentary on the story of Yusra Mardini, a Syrian swimmer that faced many challenges and persevered. Even with her house being shattered to the ground, practicing in dilapidated pools, fleeing a country through a perilous path, leaving her friends, leaving the country she loved, she endured, and fought all the conflicts that were in her way. She is an epitome of success as a migrant. Migrants face challenges such as learning a new country’s language, cultural hindrances that are uninviting, and securing houses and services. These are just some of the impediments that she has succeeded in surpassing. She has flourished in an environment that wasn’t meant for her, defining what a quintessential refugee can achieve. Her story corroborates that even if we have so many vexatious conditions in our lives, we can persist and be triumphant.

Yusra Mardini is currently living in Hamburg, Germany. She has been appointed a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador and advocates for refugees globally through sharing her own inspiring story and has become a powerful voice for the forcibly displaced across the world.
